First of all, some jargon to understand:
CCTV – This stands for Closed Circuit Television (also known as video surveillance)
DVR – This is the Digital Video Recorder. It is the physical box that records your CCTV and allows playback. Some will automatically back up to the cloud, and most, if not all now, can be viewed on your mobile smartphone anywhere in the world.
Smart CCTV Cameras – Smart CCTV security cameras allow you to remotely operate them from a device such as your smartphone via an app. Because it’s a smart device you can integrate it with other smart technology such as alarms and sensors. If the smart camera is wireless, you will have much more freedom as to where you can place the camera.
PTZ Cameras – Pan/Tilt/Zoom. This camera is capable of changing direction and zoom via remote control. The cameras ability to move can reduce the number of cameras a system needs. You can also tilt or pan to follow the movements of a specific target should they move out of the field of view.
